Water Bound by Christine Feehan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
SPOILER ALERT.
I love that this book started with Ilya Prakenski's (from the Drake Sister book, Turbulent Sea--Joley's story) brothers. This story started where the last Drake Sister book, Hidden Currents, left off.I hope the rest of the "Sisters of the Heart" will include the other 5 brothers. I especially liked Rikki, the heroine, and how being autistic didn't slow her down or keep her from having a career,a home and a man to love her for herself. Lev Prakenski, the hero, was a man who did not "feel anything". He felt that his line of work had caused him to loose his hold on his humanity. He was saved by Rikki both physically and mentally.

Writing Courses II
The exercises for my writing workshop are so good. I'm extremely surprised that I have come up with the things I am writing about. Some of the exercises have inspired some really good story ideas. I just might use them as short stories in an anthology, free reads on my upcoming website or as full novels. I plan to take a few more workshops and writing courses through the end of the year and reassess my goals.

Lazy, Rainy Day
Today started off with my family and I making a short trip to the country. We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel; then off to visit some relatives. Started to rain and that about did it for me. This was the perfect opportunity for me to catch up on some much needed sleep. Very little studying was done today and I am at least a lesson behind in homework. Monday I will definitely have to get some serious writing and studying done. Right now, I can hear the slight "frying" sound of the rain hitting the house and the ground. There is a grumble of thunder in the distance and a flash or two of lightening, a perfect time to commune with nature and relax.

Father's Day
My Dad is a pretty cool guy. He likes to play with the children of our family. He's a fantastic fan of tickling. He's not happy unless he has had one of us screaming with laughter while being tickled. He has his own speech and sign language that everyone of us at some time has spoken and/or signed with him. He watches kid shows and cartoons with some of his great-grandchildren. He makes every effort to "save" his grandchildren and great-grandchildren from punishments that we, as parents, attempt to enforce. With the death of a majority of his siblings, he has embraced their children as his own and is always enquiring of their welfare.
I did not post anything yesterday as I spent the entire day with my Dad. He started the day at breakfast with my Mom, Dad's sister, my Brother, my Son, myself and three of his ten great-grandchildren. He received numerous well-wishing calls from some other grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.
Later in the day, we took my Dad to his favorite restaurant. He ordered his favorite meal which is a farm raised catfish dinner. He was well and truly stuffed when he was able to get up from the table and leave. This was a great "pick me up" for him as he has been ill lately. He really enjoyed the day.

Writing Courses
Since beginning this journey, I have contemplated taking some refresher writing courses just to make sure that I'm on the right track. I started with Beginning Writers Workshop just this week and I'm happy to report that so far what I thought I remembered, I actually do remember! I'll still take a few more just to be on the safe side because I'm currently working on my first novel. I want everything to be in order...as much as possible. My "folks" are definitely talking to me again. This time I'm listening and writing it all down.

Websites
I have been playing around with building a website for my future writings.
Loading the website is sometimes daunting. I mean adding something you think might look good and seeing the finished area is...*sighing loudly and slowly shaking head*
Anyway, it's all coming together. Slowly.

Happy Mother's Day
Just a few thoughts on Mother's Day. For most of us, when we were young, Mom was the single most important person in our lives. Let's face it, she knows everything there is to know about us. She let us have space in her body for a little over nine months, feeding us and keeping us warm and didn't even charge rent!...Wow! who else would do that?
Mom was the first person to see us naked...think about it. The first person to witness us drooling, eating & drinking like a pig, throwing up, smelling like pee and lighting up a room when we "break wind" and have bowel movements, and also when we have temper tantrums. All the really embarrassing stuff and here's the kicker--she still loves us for it.
She was there when we took our first steps and picked us up when we fell. She fought all of our battles until we could fight our own and helped us celebrate our first victories. Our very own cheering squad and fan club all rolled into one. She was the first person we told our secrets to...and she kept them!
With all of that, she was also the first to set us straight when we got out of line--our judge, jury and executor of punishments. Some times we got off light and sometimes we couldn't set comfortably for a few days. Some of us would say, "Wait until I grow up, I won't treat my children this way." But one day we wake up and put or hands to our mouth and say "I've become my mother! Our punishments were executed with love and the knowledge that this would hopefully help us become well adjusted people and follow in her footsteps to become good parents.
So whether our moms have left this plain of existence for a better one or still here to give us love and advice, lets remember:
The time we ate all of the jelly and denied it and everyone got punished, or...
The time we came it after curfew and was grounded for a week, or...
The time we ran that touchdown and we could here mom screaming the loudest from
from the sidelines, or...
We won an award and could here mom clapping, screaming "That's my child!" and
thank heaven we were given the best mom in the entire world.

Update
Its been a busy year for me so far. I have had two close relatives--my dad and my brother--to become ill. I have been assisting my mom in caring for them so have had little or no time to post. Things are looking up for both of them at present. My brother's condition is more serious than my father's, so his recovery will take some time. Keep us in your positive thoughts and prayers. I will be checking back in periodically and hopefully be able to post something about my progress.

Happy New Year!!
I hope everyone enjoyed their New Year Celebration and have made a resolution for the new year. I have resolved to get myself more focused. I am making an attempt to post here more and to give more time to writing. This past year has been very stressful with sickness in my immediate family and much time spent helping out. Things have improved with my family member so I am now able to devote more time to learning this craft, taking classes and spending more time researching and writing. I have put myself on a tight schedule in order to accomplish this. Here's hoping for a better year for us all.
